Examining the book of Ephesians part 11

Introduction
a.                  We have so far
·        Looked at how the church as Ephesus was founded
·        We look at election, predestination, the depravity of man, salvation by grace alone and the Gentiles being fellow heirs
b.                  Chapter 4.

I.          Walk Worthy
Eph 4:1  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

a.                   This not talking about honour you ministerial calling.
b.                  It if referring to our character, our attitude and personality
2Ti 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

1Pe 1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Col 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
c.                 In verse 2 . Paul explains what he means
Eph 4:2  With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love
Eph 4:2  with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
d.                 The reason that we are to do that is because we are one people
Eph 4:3  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling
e.                 Paul’s application of truth of what he as taught in the last three chapters.
Eph 1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

11.         Paul emphasis the oneness of the faith
Eph 4:4  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5  One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Eph 4:7  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

As we look at this chapter we see the emphases is on unity
